My body mass index (BMI) is .7 away from being obese for my size. At 5’3” I am 165.2 pounds. I jokingly said that it had to be wrong and looked it up to try and calculate it myself. I still got the same number. One thing I think is important to note is that your body fat percentage would probably be a more accurate representation of your overall health. If I’m being honest, I have to say that I am definitely overweight. I am currently the heaviest, but also the strongest I’ve ever been, that last part helps me feel better.
I go to the gym 3 to 5 days a week, but cardio and I are not friends. To combat that I’ve started incorporating 10,000 steps into my routine as well as 20 minutes of cardio during my gym sessions. I think I look like a lean beef patty, but maybe I’m giving more cow!

As I was researching my BMI and what it really represents various articles talked about the biggest factors being diet, genetics, and a sedentary lifestyle. I live an active lifestyle and there are a few things that run in my family. My dad recently passed from complications due to congestive heart failure, and kidney failure. He was probably one of the healthiest people that I know and it has been a wake up call for me to do better! I know that nothing is affecting my weight like my diet! Sometimes you really have to be honest with yourself! I eat out almost every day. I do not watch what I eat. I do not make it a point to eat my fruits and veggie. I just don’t eat intuitively, all that is changing.
